John 1:(1-9), 10-18
31:7 For thus says the LORD: Sing aloud with gladness for Jacob, and raise
shouts for the chief of the nations; proclaim, give praise, and say, "Save, O
LORD, your people, the remnant of Israel."
31:8 See, I am going to bring them from the land of the north, and gather them
from the farthest parts of the earth, among them the blind and the lame, those
with child and those in labor, together; a great company, they shall return
here.
31:9 With weeping they shall come, and with consolations I will lead them back,
I will let them walk by brooks of water, in a straight path in which they shall
not stumble; for I have become a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.
31:10 Hear the word of the LORD, O nations, and declare it in the coastlands far
away; say, "He who scattered Israel will gather him, and will keep him as a
shepherd a flock."
31:11 For the LORD has ransomed Jacob, and has redeemed him from hands too
strong for him.
31:12 They shall come and sing aloud on the height of Zion, and they shall be
radiant over the goodness of the LORD, over the grain, the wine, and the oil,
and over the young of the flock and the herd; their life shall become like a
watered garden, and they shall never languish again.
31:13 Then shall the young women rejoice in the dance, and the young men and the
old shall be merry. I will turn their mourning into joy, I will comfort them,
and give them gladness for sorrow.
31:14 I will give the priests their fill of fatness, and my people shall be
satisfied with my bounty, says the LORD.
24:1 Wisdom praises herself, and tells of her glory in the midst of her
people.
24:2 In the assembly of the Most High she opens her mouth, and in the presence
of his hosts she tells of her glory:
24:3 "I came forth from the mouth of the Most High, and covered the earth like a
mist.
24:4 I dwelt in the highest heavens, and my throne was in a pillar of cloud.
24:5 Alone I compassed the vault of heaven and traversed the depths of the
abyss.
24:6 Over waves of the sea, over all the earth, and over every people and nation
I have held sway."
24:7 Among all these I sought a resting place; in whose territory should I
abide?
24:8 "Then the Creator of all things gave me a command, and my Creator chose the
place for my tent. He said, 'Make your dwelling in Jacob, and in Israel receive
your inheritance.'
24:9 Before the ages, in the beginning, he created me, and for all the ages I
shall not cease to be.
24:10 In the holy tent I ministered before him, and so I was established in
Zion.
24:11 Thus in the beloved city he gave me a resting place, and in Jerusalem was
my domain.
24:12 I took root in an honored people, in the portion of the Lord, his
heritage.
147:12 Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion!
147:13 For he strengthens the bars of your gates; he blesses your children
within you.
147:14 He grants peace within your borders; he fills you with the finest of
wheat.
147:15 He sends out his command to the earth; his word runs swiftly.
147:16 He gives snow like wool; he scatters frost like ashes.
147:17 He hurls down hail like crumbs-- who can stand before his cold?
147:18 He sends out his word, and melts them; he makes his wind blow, and the
waters flow.
147:19 He declares his word to Jacob, his statutes and ordinances to Israel.
147:20 He has not dealt thus with any other nation; they do not know his
ordinances. Praise the LORD!
10:15 A holy people and blameless race wisdom delivered from a nation of
oppressors,
10:16 She entered the soul of a servant of the Lord, and withstood dread kings
with wonders and signs.
10:17 She gave to holy people the reward of their labors; she guided them along
a marvelous way, and became a shelter to them by day, and a starry flame through
the night.
10:18 She brought them over the Red Sea, and led them through deep waters;
10:19 but she drowned their enemies, and cast them up from the depth of the sea.
10:20 Therefore the righteous plundered the ungodly; they sang hymns, O Lord, to
your holy name, and praised with one accord your defending hand;
20:21 for wisdom opened the mouths of those who were mute, and made the tongues
of infants speak clearly.
1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed
us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,
1:4 just as he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world to be holy
and blameless before him in love.
1:5 He destined us for adoption as his children through Jesus Christ, according
to the good pleasure of his will,
1:6 to the praise of his glorious grace that he freely bestowed on us in the
Beloved.
1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our
trespasses, according to the riches of his grace
1:8 that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and insight
1:9 he has made known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good
pleasure that he set forth in Christ, 1:10 as a plan for the fullness of time,
to gather up all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.
1:11 In Christ we have also obtained an inheritance, having been destined
according to the purpose of him who accomplishes all things according to his
counsel and will,
1:12 so that we, who were the first to set our hope on Christ, might live for
the praise of his glory.
1:13 In him you also, when you had heard the word of truth, the gospel of your
salvation, and had believed in him, were marked with the seal of the promised
Holy Spirit;
1:14 this is the pledge of our inheritance toward redemption as God's own
people, to the praise of his glory.
1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was
with God, and the Word was God.
1:2 He was in the beginning with God.
1:3 All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came
into being. What has come into being
1:4 in him was life, and the life was the light of all people.
1:5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.
1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
1:7 He came as a witness to testify to the light, so that all might believe
through him.
1:8 He himself was not the light, but he came to testify to the light.
1:9 The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world.
1:10 He was in the world, and the world came into being through him; yet the
world did not know him.
1:11 He came to what was his own, and his own people did not accept him.
1:12 But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to
become children of God,
1:13 who were born, not of blood or of the will of the flesh or of the will of
man, but of God.
1:14 And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory,
the glory as of a father's only son, full of grace and truth.
1:15 (John testified to him and cried out, "This was he of whom I said, 'He who
comes after me ranks ahead of me because he was before me.'")
1:16 From his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.
1:17 The law indeed was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus
Christ.
1:18 No one has ever seen God. It is God the only Son, who is close to the
Father's heart, who has made him known.
Isaiah 60:1-6
Psalm 72:1-7, 10-14
Ephesians 3:1-12
Matthew 2:1-12
60:1 Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen
upon you.
60:2 For darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the LORD will
arise upon you, and his glory will appear over you.
60:3 Nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.
60:4 Lift up your eyes and look around; they all gather together, they come to you; your
sons shall come from far away, and your daughters shall be carried on their nurses' arms.
60:5 Then you shall see and be radiant; your heart shall thrill and rejoice, because the
abundance of the sea shall be brought to you, the wealth of the nations shall come to you.
60:6 A multitude of camels shall cover you, the young camels of Midian and Ephah; all
those from Sheba shall come. They shall bring gold and frankincense, and shall proclaim
the praise of the LORD.
72:1 Give the king your justice, O God, and your righteousness to a king's son.
72:2 May he judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with justice.
72:3 May the mountains yield prosperity for the people, and the hills, in righteousness.
72:4 May he defend the cause of the poor of the people, give deliverance to the needy, and
crush the oppressor.
72:5 May he live while the sun endures, and as long as the moon, throughout all
generations.
72:6 May he be like rain that falls on the mown grass, like showers that water the earth.
72:7 In his days may righteousness flourish and peace abound, until the moon is no more.
72:10 May the kings of Tarshish and of the isles render him tribute, may the kings of
Sheba and Seba bring gifts.
72:11 May all kings fall down before him, all nations give him service.
72:12 For he delivers the needy when they call, the poor and those who have no helper.
72:13 He has pity on the weak and the needy, and saves the lives of the needy.
72:14 From oppression and violence he redeems their life; and precious is their blood in
his sight.
3:1 This is the reason that I Paul am a prisoner for Christ Jesus for the sake of you
Gentiles--
3:2 for surely you have already heard of the commission of God's grace that was given me
for you,
3:3 and how the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I wrote above in a few
words,
3:4 a reading of which will enable you to perceive my understanding of the mystery of
Christ.
3:5 In former generations this mystery was not made known to humankind, as it has now been
revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit:
3:6 that is, the Gentiles have become fellow heirs, members of the same body, and sharers
in the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.
3:7 Of this gospel I have become a servant according to the gift of God's grace that was
given me by the working of his power.
3:8 Although I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given to me to bring to
the Gentiles the news of the boundless riches of Christ,
3:9 and to make everyone see what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God who
created all things;
3:10 so that through the church the wisdom of God in its rich variety might now be made
known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.
3:11 This was in accordance with the eternal purpose that he has carried out in Christ
Jesus our Lord,
3:12 in whom we have access to God in boldness and confidence through faith in him.
2:1 In the time of King Herod, after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, wise men
from the East came to Jerusalem,
2:2 asking, "Where is the child who has been born king of the Jews? For we observed
his star at its rising, and have come to pay him homage."
2:3 When King Herod heard this, he was frightened, and all Jerusalem with him;
2:4 and calling together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of
them where the Messiah was to be born.
2:5 They told him, "In Bethlehem of Judea; for so it has been written by the
prophet:
2:6 'And you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of
Judah; for from you shall come a ruler who is to shepherd my people Israel.'"
2:7 Then Herod secretly called for the wise men and learned from them the exact time when
the star had appeared.
2:8 Then he sent them to Bethlehem, saying, "Go and search diligently for the child;
and when you have found him, bring me word so that I may also go and pay him
homage."
2:9 When they had heard the king, they set out; and there, ahead of them, went the star
that they had seen at its rising, until it stopped over the place where the child
was.
2:10 When they saw that the star had stopped, they were overwhelmed with joy.
2:11 On entering the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother; and they knelt down
and paid him homage. Then, opening their treasure chests, they offered him gifts of gold,
frankincense, and myrrh.
2:12 And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they left for their own
country by another road.
Isaiah 42:1-9
Psalm 29
Acts 10:34-43
Matthew 3:13-17
42:1 Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen, in whom my soul delights; I have put
my spirit upon him; he will bring forth justice to the nations.
42:2 He will not cry or lift up his voice, or make it heard in the street;
42:3 a bruised reed he will not break, and a dimly burning wick he will not quench; he
will faithfully bring forth justice.
42:4 He will not grow faint or be crushed until he has established justice in the earth;
and the coastlands wait for his teaching.
42:5 Thus says God, the LORD, who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread
out the earth and what comes from it, who gives breath to the people upon it and spirit to
those who walk in it:
42:6 I am the LORD, I have called you in righteousness, I have taken you by the hand and
kept you; I have given you as a covenant to the people, a light to the nations,
42:7 to open the eyes that are blind, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, from
the prison those who sit in darkness.
42:8 I am the LORD, that is my name; my glory I give to no other, nor my praise to idols.
42:9 See, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare; before they
spring forth, I tell you of them.
29:1 Ascribe to the LORD, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
29:2 Ascribe to the LORD the glory of his name; worship the LORD in holy splendor.
29:3 The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD, over
mighty waters.
29:4 The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.
29:5 The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; the LORD breaks the cedars of Lebanon.
29:6 He makes Lebanon skip like a calf, and Sirion like a young wild ox.
29:7 The voice of the LORD flashes forth flames of fire.
29:8 The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; the LORD shakes the wilderness of
Kadesh.
29:9 The voice of the LORD causes the oaks to whirl, and strips the forest bare; and in
his temple all say, "Glory!"
29:10 The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD sits enthroned as king forever.
29:11 May the LORD give strength to his people! May the LORD bless his people with peace!
10:34 Then Peter began to speak to them: "I truly understand that God shows no
partiality,
10:35 but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to
him.
10:36 You know the message he sent to the people of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus
Christ--he is Lord of all.
10:37 That message spread
throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John announced:
10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power; how he went
about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.
10:39 We are witnesses to all that he did both in Judea and in Jerusalem. They put him to
death by hanging him on a tree;
10:40 but God raised him on the third day and allowed him to appear,
10:41 not to all the people but to us who were chosen by God as witnesses, and who ate and
drank with him after he rose from the dead.
10:42 He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one ordained
by God as judge of the living and the dead.
10:43 All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives
forgiveness of sins through his name."
3:13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan, to be baptized by him.
John would have prevented him, saying, "I need to be baptized by you, and do you come
to me?"
3:15 But Jesus answered him, "Let it be so now; for it is proper for us in this way
to fulfill all righteousness." Then he consented.
3:16 And when Jesus had been baptized, just as he came up from the water, suddenly the
heavens were opened to him and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and
alighting on him.
3:17 And a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, the Beloved, with whom I am well
pleased."
Isaiah 49:1-7
Psalm 40:1-12
1 Corinthians 1:1-9
John 1:29-42
49:1 Listen to me, O coastlands, pay attention, you peoples from far away! The LORD
called me before I was born, while I was in my mother's womb he named me.
49:2 He made my mouth like a sharp sword, in the shadow of his hand he hid me; he made me
a polished arrow, in his quiver he hid me away.
49:3 And he said to me, "You are my servant, Israel, in whom I will be
glorified."
49:4 But I said, "I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength for nothing and
vanity; yet surely my cause is with the LORD, and my reward with my God."
49:5 And now the LORD says, who formed me in the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob
back to him, and that Israel might be gathered to him, for I am honored in the sight of
the LORD, and my God has become my strength
49:6 he says, "It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the
tribes of Jacob and to restore the survivors of Israel; I will give you as a light to the
nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth."
49:7 Thus says the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel and his Holy One, to one deeply despised,
abhorred by the nations, the slave of rulers, "Kings shall see and stand up, princes,
and they shall prostrate themselves, because of the LORD, who is faithful, the Holy One of
Israel, who has chosen you."
40:1 I waited patiently for the LORD; he inclined to me and heard my cry.
40:2 He drew me up from the desolate pit, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a
rock, making my steps secure.
40:3 He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear,
and put their trust in the LORD.
40:4 Happy are those who make the LORD their trust, who do not turn to the proud, to those
who go astray after false gods.
40:5 You have multiplied, O LORD my God, your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us;
none can compare with you. Were I to proclaim and tell of them, they would be more than
can be counted.
40:6 Sacrifice and offering you do not desire, but you have given me an open ear. Burnt
offering and sin offering you have not required.
40:7 Then I said, "Here I am; in the scroll of the book it is written of me.
40:8 I delight to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart."
40:9 I have told the glad news of deliverance in the great congregation; see, I have not
restrained my lips, as you know, O LORD.
40:10 I have not hidden your saving help within my heart, I have spoken of your
faithfulness and your salvation; I have not concealed your steadfast love and your
faithfulness from the great congregation.
40:11 Do not, O LORD, withhold your mercy from me; let your steadfast love and your
faithfulness keep me safe forever.
40:12 For evils have encompassed me without number; my iniquities have overtaken me,
until I cannot see; they are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart fails me.
1 Corinthians 1:1-9
1:1 Paul, called to be an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and our brother
Sosthenes,
1:2 To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus,
called to be saints, together with all those who in every place call on the name of our
Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours:
1:3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
1:4 I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that has been given
you in Christ Jesus,
1:5 for in every way you have been enriched in him, in speech and knowledge of every kind
1:6 just as the testimony of Christ has been strengthened among you
1:7 so that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift as you wait for the revealing of our
Lord Jesus Christ.
1:8 He will also strengthen you to the end, so that you may be blameless on the day of our
Lord Jesus Christ.
1:9 God is faithful; by him you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ
our Lord.
Isaiah 9:1-4
Psalm 27:1, 4-9
1 Corinthians 1:10-18
Matthew 4:12-23
9:1 But there will be no gloom for those who were in anguish. In the
former time he brought into contempt the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in
the latter time he will make glorious the way of the sea, the land beyond the Jordan,
Galilee of the nations.
9:2 The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who lived in a land
of deep darkness on them light has shined.
9:3 You have multiplied the nation, you have increased its joy; they rejoice before you as
with joy at the harvest, as people exult when dividing plunder.
9:4 For the yoke of their burden, and the bar across their shoulders, the rod of their
oppressor, you have broken as on the day of Midian.
1:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the
stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
1:4 One thing I asked of the Lord, that I will seek after: to live in the house of the
Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his
temple.
1:5 For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the
cover of his tent: he will set me high on a rock.
1:6 Now my head is lifted up above my enemies all around me, and I will offer in his tent
sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make melody to the Lord.
1:7 Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud, be gracious to me and answer me!
1:8 "Come," my heart says, "seek his face!" Your face, Lord, do I
seek.
1:9 Do not hide your face from me. Do not turn your servant away in anger, you who have
been my help. Do not cast me off, do not forsake me, O God of my salvation!
1:10 Now I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
that all of you be in agreement and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be
united in the same mind and the same purpose.
1:11 For it has been reported to me by Chloe's people that there are quarrels among you,
my brothers and sisters.
1:12 What I mean is that each of you says, "I belong to Paul," or "I belong
to Apollos," or "I belong to Cephas," or "I belong to Christ."
1:13 Has Christ been divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name
of Paul?
1:14 I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius,
1:15 so that no one can say that you were baptized in my name.
1:16 (I did baptize also the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I do not know whether I
baptized anyone else.)
1:17 For Christ did not send me to baptize but to proclaim the gospel, and not with
eloquent wisdom, so that the cross of Christ might not be emptied of its power.
1:18 For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us
who are being saved it is the power of God.
4:12 Now when Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew to Galilee.
4:13 He left Nazareth and made his home in Capernaum by the sea, in the territory of
Zebulun and Naphtali,
4:14 so that what had been spoken through the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled:
4:15 "Land of Zebulun, land of Naphtali, on the road by the sea, across the Jordan,
Galilee of the Gentiles
4:16 the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and for those who sat in the
region and shadow of death light has dawned."
4:17 From that time Jesus began to proclaim, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has
come near."
4:18 As he walked by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon, who is called Peter,
and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea for they were fishermen.
4:19 And he said to them, "Follow me, and I will make you fish for people."
4:20 Immediately they left their nets and followed him.
4:21 As he went from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his
brother John, in the boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets, and he called
them.
|4:22 Immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed him.
4:23 Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good
news of the kingdom and curing every disease and every sickness among the people.
Micah 6:1-8
Psalm 15
1 Corinthians 1:18-31
Matthew 5:1-12
6:1 Hear what the LORD says: Rise, plead your case before the mountains, and let the
hills hear your voice. 6:2 Hear, you mountains, the controversy of the LORD, and you
enduring foundations of the earth; for the LORD has a controversy with his people, and he
will contend with Israel.
6:3 "O my people, what have I done to you? In what have I wearied you? Answer me!
6:4 For I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and redeemed you from the house of
slavery; and I sent before you Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.
6:5 O my people, remember now what King Balak of Moab devised, what Balaam son of Beor
answered him, and what happened from Shittim to Gilgal, that you may know the saving acts
of the LORD."
6:6 "With what shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before God on high? Shall
I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old?
6:7 Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousands of rivers of oil?
Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my
soul?"
6:8 He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to
do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
15:1 O LORD, who may abide in your tent? Who may dwell on your holy hill?
15:2 Those who walk blamelessly, and do what is right, and speak the truth from their
heart;
15:3 who do not slander with their tongue, and do no evil to their friends, nor take up a
reproach against their neighbors;
15:4 in whose eyes the wicked are despised, but who honor those who fear the LORD; who
stand by their oath even to their hurt;
15:5 who do not lend money at interest, and do not take a bribe against the innocent.
Those who do these things shall never be moved.
1:18 For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to
us who are being saved it is the power of God.
1:19 For it is written, "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment
of the discerning I will thwart."
1:20 Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age?
Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?
1:21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, God
decided, through the foolishness of our proclamation, to save those who believe.
1:22 For Jews demand signs and Greeks desire wisdom,
1:23 but we proclaim Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to
Gentiles,
1:24 but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and
the wisdom of God.
1:25 For God's foolishness is wiser than human wisdom, and God's weakness is stronger than
human strength.
1:26 Consider your own call, brothers and sisters: not many of you were wise by human
standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth.
1:27 But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak
in the world to shame the strong;
1:28 God chose what is low and despised in the world, things that are not, to reduce to
nothing things that are,
1:29 so that no one might boast in the presence of God.
1:30 He is the source of your life in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, and
righteousness and sanctification and redemption,
1:31 in order that, as it is written, "Let the one who boasts, boast in the
Lord."
5:1 When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain; and after he sat down, his
disciples came to him.
5:2 Then he began to speak, and taught them, saying:
5:3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
5:4 "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
5:5 "Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
5:6 "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be
filled.
5:7 "Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.
5:8 "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
5:9 "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
5:10 "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the
kingdom of heaven.
5:11 "Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of
evil against you falsely on my account.
5:12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they
persecuted the prophets who were before you.
